Our Impact: Accounting Beyond the Numbers
Proudly Certified for Purpose and Accountability
Our Commitments
At Humanity Financial, impact isn’t a side conversation, it is the reason we exist. We believe financial clarity can drive transformation, helping organizations make confident decisions that strengthen communities and create lasting change. Every engagement is an opportunity to build trust, amplify capacity, and use accounting as a force for good.
As a legally structured Benefit Company, we seek out opportunities through third party standards to demonstrate our commitment to transparency, reconciliation, and continuous improvement as we work to make financial management a genuine catalyst for social impact.
Benefit Company
In 2022, Humanity Financial became one of British Columbia’s first accounting firms to register as a Benefit Company under British Columbia’s Business Corporations Act, formally embedding public benefit into our purpose. This legal structure commits us to operate responsibly, sustainably, and transparently—and to report publicly each year on how we create measurable, positive impact. It wasn’t a new direction but a natural evolution for a team that has always viewed accounting as a force for change.
We see accounting differently—not as a transactional service, but as a way to build trust, strengthen governance, and amplify the capacity of organizations that strengthen communities. Every charity, nonprofit, and Indigenous organization we serve exists to create meaningful impact. By improving financial clarity and confidence, we help make that change sustainable.
Our Benefit Company status includes three public purposes that guide our decisions and performance:
- Enhancing the financial capacity and credibility of charities, nonprofits, and Indigenous organizations;
- Strengthening financial systems and strategies that expand opportunity;
- Advocating for social and economic change in harmony with the environment.
These commitments are written into our incorporation documents and reported annually in our Impact Report, ensuring that our purpose goes beyond profit and holds us accountable for the outcomes we create.
B Corporation
As a Certified B Corporation, Humanity Financial meets rigorous third-party standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. We are among the first accounting firms in Western Canada—and one of only a few nationally—to earn this certification.
For us, B Corp is more than a credential; it’s assurance that we live our values. The assessment examines how we treat our team, support communities, and balance profit with purpose. Regular recertification keeps us focused on progress and continuous improvement.
This global community affirms our belief that accounting, practiced with care and courage, can strengthen communities and create lasting impact.
Bronze PAIR Certified Company
PAIR (Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations) is a certification from the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB) that validates an organization’s performance in Indigenous relations. Humanity Financial has achieved Bronze certification, following independent assessment in leadership, employment, business development, and community relationships.
This milestone reflects our commitment in action—recognizing us as a principled business partner, a place where Indigenous talent is valued, and an organization investing in economic inclusion. While Bronze marks our current level, it is also a foundation for growth. We view PAIR not as a static credential but as a living framework that guides our choices, strengthens relationships, and holds us accountable to higher standards of partnership, trust, and reconciliation.
Caring Company
Our Caring Company Certification from Imagine Canada reflects our deep and sustained commitment to community investment and social impact. As part of this certification, we pledge at least 1% of pre-tax profits annually toward social good. In practice, as a result of our paid volunteer time, Humanity Financial contributes well beyond this benchmark, because giving back is not a target we strive to meet, it is a value we live every day in service of supporting the broader mission of strengthening nonprofit and Indigenous capacity.
Certified Carbon Neutral
Humanity Financial operates as a fully remote firm – a choice grounded in purpose and practicality. Working virtually allows us to reduce emissions from office spaces, commuting, and travel while collaborating efficiently through secure cloud systems.
We are proudly carbon neutral, certified by Ostrom Climate (formerly Offsetters), a Canadian leader in verified carbon management. Through the Great Bear Forest Carbon Project, we offset our measured emissions, supporting rainforest protection and Coastal First Nations stewardship.
Carbon neutrality reflects our values in action – showing that a national firm can stay connected, deliver impact, and operate sustainably without leaving a heavy footprint.
Certified Great Place to Work
Humanity Financial is proud to be recognized as a Great Place to Work® Certified organization. This certification is based on direct feedback from our team and independent analysis by Great Place to Work Canada, confirming that trust, respect, and belonging are core to our culture.
Our certification reflects more than positive survey results – it affirms our commitment to creating an environment where people feel valued, supported, and inspired to do meaningful work. We see this recognition as both a celebration and a responsibility to continue nurturing a workplace grounded in purpose, connection, and shared success.
